We’re going to the Zoo zoo zoo…

Dave and I had a weekend together last weekend which has become a rarity since I now work on a 7 day roster and he works the odd weekend day once a month or so so we decided to make the most of it. We had planned to go to Stonehenge but that didn’t work out. Then we decided to go to Brussels, but the cheap tickets I can get weren’t available- funny that…so finally we decided to visit London Zoo! We hadn’t been since we arrived and thought it would be worth a visit to say we have “been there, done that”. And so off we went.

Playing with my camera app on the phone

We saw all sorts of animals and paid a huge sum of money for a horrid lunch (lesson learnt) and took lots of photos while we were there. We had a great day. Here are some of our favourite shots.

(warning-photo heavy…not very good at this “few” thing)

Artsy Crafts Adventure

Well, here we are! I have finally had a chance to sort through my photos and pick a few to share with you of my ArtsyCrafts experience a few weeks ago.

It started with a train journey to Milton Keynes and taxi to the venue (because I couldn’t work out the buses and, quite frankly, couldn’t be bothered!). Once I arrived and registered I joined a table of ladies geared up to craft the day away in the midst of Lin and Leandra and the legendary Tim Holtz!!!! I was very excited to say the least. :)

My first class was with Lin and Leandra and was creating this beautiful keepsake:

Here are some in progress and close up shots too:

Next we had a choice of lunches, packed, buffet or restaurant. Naturally I chose the most expensive (although it was in fact very cheap). I enjoyed a three course lunch of soup, chicken, potato and salads and a slice of lemon merangue pie. Yum!

As good as the day had been, it was about to get SO much better…Tim’s class on his Configurations boxes. I was so nervous about being out of my depth in these classes because I am a scrapbooker by choice and it has been a while since I last ventured to do something out of the ordinary craftwise.

I had a wonderful time creating my on interpretation of Confirgurations and here are some shots taken during creation:

Finally, I got to get Tim’s autograph and have a photo taken with him:

And the final product of the day looks a little something like this:

I was fortunate to win some Core-dinations paper that Tim had helped designing and also we all got to take away a little goody bag of Ranger products so I was a very contented soul at the end of a busy day. All that awaited me was the long trip home.

I had a great time and enjoyed meeting crafters alike especially Mel who I have “known” through Shimelle’s classes and lately her blog-although I nearly didn’t have the courage to walk up to her and tell her who I was! I am glad I did as we shared the excitement of winning papers (she won too!) Weren’t we lucky! Now I just have to convince Dave to let me spend the money for the next weekend long event later this year…wish me luck!

Artsy Crafts post coming soon!

I have just spent the whole night updating facebook with months worth of photos so all my friends and family back home get to see what we are getting up to over here.

Speaking of what we/I have been getting up to…I went to ArtsyCrafts amazing day course on Friday 25th. I had a lesson with Lin and Leandra and then a restaurant lunch and a …wait for it … class with TIM HOLTZ!!! It was amazing and I am so looking forward to sharing it all with you once I have a chance to go through all the photos!

In the meantime here is a sample shot of one project and a link through to Mel’s blog post about is (who I met there IRL). :)
